A warm welcome to parents & private tutors.
First and foremost, Stamford Classroom is not a tuition centre, tuition agency or an independent tutor.
We are a group of trained MOE teachers who’ve spent decades in classrooms witnessing your children & tutees grow up.
A short story:
Back in 2011, one of our students came to school with a bruised nose. His father had hit him for failing his Math term test (29/100). He cried not out of fear of his father’s beating, but in disappointment that he had let his dad down.
We worked with him slowly, and eventually he scored a 55/100 for his next test. He was beaming so widely and couldn’t wait to show his father his progress.
The next day, he came to school with a bruised jaw. He’d been hit for “only passing” (Where’s your A?”).
His eyes were lifeless and all determination that he’d shown before to improve himself was gone. Wish there was a happier ending to this story, but there isn’t. He dropped out of school pretty quickly.
The point we want to make with this is that parents & tutors, your roles as mentors and cheerleaders are so important.
If anyone’s struggling with motivating their child or tutee, or simply unable to find the right techniques to get your message across to them, message us and we’ll create a post addressing your next set of FAQs.
